We can’t believe we are nearly half way through the trekking season here in the Chamonix Valley, despite the snow at the start of the season we have has some fantastic weather and happy clients who have been blown away by the stunning views on all our trekking routes. The Tour du Mont Blanc and Walkers Haute Route remain well loved. And the Vanoise National Park, Gran Paradiso and Tour of the Monte Rosa have also been stunning this year.
The trails are now mainly snow free apart from the odd section in the shaded gullies and north facing slopes therefore usual trekking kit as suggested on our kit list will be all that is required.
Due to the hot weather we have had some serious late afternoon thunderstorms which has resulted in flash flooding of rivers and has caused some landslides. It is imperative that you check the weather forecast daily and plan accordingly, if thunderstorms are forecast later in the day make sure you set off early enough to avoid these. In heavy rain or after heavy rainfall, take care when crossing water ways & if rivers are in flood and you feel it is not safe to cross then take an alternative route.
