Introducing the winner of our competition in 2024!
A massive thank you to everyone who entered our competition for an 8-day trek in the Atlas Mountains. After receiving many entries, we are delighted to announce our winner, Nick Wild from the UK, 65, who is looking forward to joining us in Morocco for our trek in October.
"Living in Leeds, I'm extremely lucky to have the Yorkshire Dales on my doorstep. Since retiring 3 years ago, I've been able to go walking more often, sometimes averaging 50 miles a week. I've been an avid walker for about 5 years now. My favourite walks in the Yorkshire Dales include the stunning Washburn Valley, the wondrous landscape of Otley Chevin and the spectacular views of Malham Cove.
Back in the days when I worked, I used to print out lottery scratch cards for a living. I certainly don't miss the long hours.
I first started walking via Meetup groups and I've been walking mainly within the Yorkshire Dales. I now tend to walk with a few groups that have formed from Meetup throughout the week. It's with one of these groups that I went to the Fethiye Mugla region in Turkey where I found the scenery to be absolutely stunning.
I enjoy walking mainly for the social side and meeting new people. I hope to carry on walking as long as I can and being outdoors in the fresh air is invigorating in itself.
My other hobbies besides walking are classic cars, gardening and going on as many holidays as possible.
I admit I’m quite nervous about going on a trekking holiday as I’ve never done one before but I’m really looking forward to the adventure.”
