Following the recent announcement by our Prime Minister in France, we can finally confirm that all of the hiking trails on our walking holidays in France, Italy and Switzerland are able to open from the 2nd/3rd of June. Hooray!!

We have also double-checked with our accommodation partners and we will be able to work with them all. There are a couple of refuges along some of the trails that have decided to remain closed until later on in the season - but none that affect us.

This means (and we know this is the biggie) that IF you can travel we will be able to trek as soon as the snow has melted sufficiently and the trails are walkable! We never advise trekking in the mountains before mid to end of June, simply because of the weather. Although some of our intrepid self-guided clients have trekked before.

Early Trail Conditions

We will be looking at the trails of the Tour du Mont Blanc and Walkers Haute Route in more depth next week. However, looking at conditions at the moment, if the weather continues there should be no problems. You can see from the photos taken today that there is very limited snow.

Trek Dates

We realise that many of you will not know until at least mid June when you will be able to travel and some not until early July. Therefore for the Tour du Mont Blanc and the Walkers Haute Route, we have opened up new guided trek dates for 2020 in order to meet the demand for last minute bookings.

The Vanoise National Park will be open from the 2nd June and the Gran Paradiso from the 3rd.

Remember, however, to contact usfor advice on the best dates to travel on these self-guided walking holidays, with regards to snow cover and weather.

Self Guided

We are being contacted by people who had planned to navigate the trails themselves, but want to extra security of a flexible cancellation policy with us, rather than running the risk of multiple bookings with many independent hostels/refuges and travel companies.

No problem. If you talk to us about the type of walking holiday you envisaged, we can work with you to ensure you get what you expect.

Dates are completely flexible as are the length of our self-guided walking tours – so when you know what you want to do, get in touch and we will help.

The Tour de Monte Rosa and the Dolomites are always popular with self-guided groups, however we offer all of our routes as self-guided walking holidays so wherever you would like to go – and whenever we (are so pleased to be able to say!) can help!

Cancellation Policies and Regulations

We have introduced flexible cancellation policies for any bookings you want to make for this season as we are under no illusions - we are still in very uncertain times. We are also working with all accommodation and food providers to ensure that new regulations will all be in place and taken care of before you arrive.

We are so pleased that we really can help everyone get outside once again - and after our respective lockdowns we definitely deserve it!
